What You Need to Get Started
Before diving into the setup process, ensure you have everything you need:
Trezor hardware wallet
USB cable
Computer with internet access
Trezor Bridge software
Step-by-Step Setup Guide
1. Connect Your Trezor Wallet
First, connect your Trezor device to your computer using the provided USB cable. A welcome message will appear on the Trezor screen, prompting you to visit trezor.io/start.
2. Install Trezor Bridge
Visit trezor.io/start on your computer's web browser. Download and install the Trezor Bridge software, which allows your computer to communicate with your Trezor device. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
3. Access Trezor Wallet Interface
After installing Trezor Bridge, open your web browser and navigate to wallet.trezor.io. This will launch the Trezor Wallet interface. Your device will prompt you to confirm the connection.
4. Initialize Your Trezor Device
Follow the prompts on the Trezor Wallet interface to initialize your device. You will be asked to create a new wallet or recover an existing one. Choose the option that suits your needs.
5. Create a Strong PIN
For added security, set up a PIN code for your Trezor wallet. The device will display a grid of numbers. Enter your PIN using the corresponding numbers on your computer screen. Confirm your PIN by repeating the process.
6. Write Down Your Recovery Seed
Your Trezor will generate a 24-word recovery seed. Write down these words in the exact order they appear. This seed is crucial for recovering your wallet if your device is lost or damaged. Store it in a safe place, and never share it with anyone.
7. Confirm Your Recovery Seed
To ensure you've correctly written down your recovery seed, your Trezor will ask you to confirm the words. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete this step.
8. Secure Your Recovery Seed
Store your recovery seed in a secure location. Consider using a fireproof and waterproof safe for added protection. Remember, anyone with access to your recovery seed can control your funds.
